VISION & MISSION

The Vision of QUALIHFON is to play a leadership role in the promotion of quality and safe health care for all Nigerians.

Its Mission is the improvement of the health status of all Nigerians through the promotion and institutionalization of the concept and principles of health care quality and within the context of health sector reform. The organization will also advance the innovative application of ICT and Knowledge Management in ensuring improvements in access and quality of care.

OBJECTIVES

  • Advocacy:
    Based on scientific evidence, QUALIHFON will work with Health Policy makers, Administrators, Legislators, Regulators, the Media and health care providers with a view to positively influencing policy, practice and legislation affecting health care quality.
  • Consumer Information, Counselling & Education
    The centre periodically organizes public enlightenment and health education campaigns for various segments of the population such as school children, women and at-risk groups. On-line information, education and counseling services , including health consumer rights are also available for consumers and providers. QUALIHFON acts as a bridge between providers and consumers and ultimately assisting consumers in navigating through the complex web of the often fragmented diagnostic and therapeutic care. Consumers will also be linked to available health resources in their area, based on an online data bank of health care resources (facilities and professionals). The Organization will also provide a forum for condumers and health workers to share experiences on quality of health care.
  • Training; Conferences & Facilitation of Meetings:
    Training workshop, seminars, update lectures and conferences are organized for various cadres of health personnel. Research capability strengthening activities, including use of modern information technology in health care are also organized for health personnel.
  • Research:
    The centre conducts multidisciplinary quantitative and qualitative studies including Health Systems, epidemiological, behavioural and health policy research, health care financing and Gender issues. Periodic assessments of quality of care based on internationally accepted indicators and methods will also be conducted especially for beneficiaries of the National health Insurance Scheme.
  • Publication & Documentation:
    The publications by the centre include reports, journal articles, health magazine and books. A monthly journal and newsletter are planned for the near future.
